Our History

Uhler Excavating is celebrating 40 years of business and service to the Ashland area. Ken Uhler began his excavating business on April 7, 1972 as he purchased equipment from a local septic system repair company. Ken began installing septic systems, digging basements, repairing basement walls, sanitary sewers and all types of new installations and repair work. In 1975 he started Family Pools of Ashland with his wife, Pam, and the focus of the business shifted to the total installation of swimming pools in the summer months. Before and after pool season he remained actively pursuing his customers’ needs for all types of excavating as well as snow removal in the winter months.

Steve Uhler, joined the company as a full time employee after graduation from Ashland High School in 1988. He is now the operator and manager of the business. Ken officially retired in 2010 and continues to assist Steve in an advisory capacity. As we begin 2013, we see the 3rd generation becoming involved in the business as Cody Uhler has begun working with his Dad.

We thank this community for calling on our company to handle their excavating needs and trusting that we will provide excellent service. Because of the diversity of excavating work, we request that you call us for an estimate and allow us to look at your site to give you an accurate job cost. Steve maintains the same high standards of work ethic that was established by his Dad and welcomes new and past customers of Uhler Excavating. Thank you for your business.
